Spy Wednesday 2026: The Four Directions of the Heart

As the shadows of Spy Wednesday lengthen over the Hudson Valley, we find ourselves standing in the courtyard of Caiaphas, reading the prophetic audit of Matthew 26:57-75. In the light of N.T. Wright’s commentary and the escalating Epic Fury in the Middle East, it is clear that we are not merely spectators. We are being pulled in four competing directions at once—four distinct operating systems fighting for control of the North American soul:

  • The Direction of Jesus (The Vanguard): This is the call to a radical, Aquarian non-violence that sheathes the sword at every level—from the vegan plate to the 50% military budget cut. It is the path of Civilian-Based Defense (CBD), which trusts that a disciplined Planetary Trust is more secure than a nuclear arsenal. It accepts the risk of seizure by modern empires, believing that the Non-Violent Lamb is the only one who can navigate the 2060 Nineveh Protocol deadline.
  • The Direction of Caiaphas (The Institutional Realist): This is the Saturnian fear that keeps us awake at night. It argues that if we transition to total non-violence and World Federalism, we leave ourselves defenseless. It whispers that if we don't fight the HEU battles now, China will seize the advanced chips in Taiwan and Russia will seize the Western European soil. It chooses the Realpolitik of National Security over the Stewardship of the Kingdom because it cannot conceive of a world without a sword.
  • The Direction of Peter (The Broken Vessel): This is the direction most of us inhabit. We want to follow the King into the rapid global reset, but at the first sign of a shortage or a threat to our chip supply, we reach for the sword—or we deny the Aquarian truth altogether to stay warm by the fire of the status quo. We are a Church that talks like the Vanguard but acts like the Latecomer when the pressure is applied.
  • The Direction of Judas (The Tactical Manager): This is the temptation of Calculated Betrayal. It is the urge to spy out a middle ground that doesn't exist—to believe we can manage the abyss of anarchy by making a deal with the Saturnian powers. It is the belief that we can sacrifice the Little Ones (the biosphere, the animals, the poor) just one more time to save the institutional structure of the Old World.

On this evening of betrayal and reckoning, the question for us is no longer about winning a war, but about which War we are actually fighting. Are we fighting the localized HEU battles of the old world, or are we enlisting in the Nineveh Protocol War for the survival of the biosphere?

If the Vanguard were to accept the possibility of a temporary win by rival powers as the price for a rapid reset of the biosphere, do you think the North American Church has the monastic discipline to resist that occupation non-violently, or would we simply revert to the sword at the first sign of a shortage?
