Lent Week 2: Thursday | Matthew 12 (1-21)
Blessings, Duffy.
We have another powerful pacifist reading of Jesus' Kingship from N.T. Wright today to counterbalance my seemingly contradictory inclinations (especially as a vegan new monastic) toward just war theory. Wright got me reading back in Isaiah 42 and 40, but I won't have time to tackle Isaiah 40-55 today, despite his recommendation.
I haven't found any YouTube channels where it is possible to listen to the complete High Mass for each day of the 1962 Roman Missal chanted in Latin. Now that I am following along in the Missal, I really want to hear what the High Mass sounds like.
Maybe Gemini can help? Here are three 30-second experimental tracks - my first time ever using Gemini to make music. The first track is the Introit from today's 1962 Roman Missal reading, chanted in Latin:
The second track is the Collect from the same reading, chanted in English:
The third track is the Gradual, chanted in Latin:
The Latin chants are close but not exact. The English chant is exact. I might make the Collect each morning moving forward. Maybe I can make it in a different tone depending on the day.
According to Gemini, our private home devotional study cannot be called a Low Mass (Missa lecta), or a High Mass (Missa cantata or Missa sollemnis), but is rather called a Dry Mass (Missa sicca).
I see further that "Many people conclude their home reading by making an Act of Spiritual Communion. This is a traditional practice where you express a desire to receive Christ sacramentally, even when you cannot attend a physical Mass."
Here is what Gemini recommended for me as an Act of Spiritual Communion at the end of my Dry Masses:

It's a good next step.
Peace and grace.
